What is the Social Rights Alliance Manchester?

The Social Rights Alliance Manchester (SRA) is a network of support dedicated to improving the understanding of Economic, Social and Cultural rights for residents of Moss Side and Wythenshawe, as well as providing the tools and resources to campaign against increasing social injustice through a rights-based perspective.

Why Wythenshawe and Moss Side?

Both communities over the past few decades have been subject to increasing inequality as a result of the political landscape, whilst continually receiving negative press. The SRA Manchester will draw upon the existing efforts, organizing and strengths of the residents of both communities and look to a hopeful future in which people are able to understand their rights, recognize when they have been violated and use them as a tool to effectively call for meaningful social change. The city – during a global pandemic – is caught between a boom and a crisis. Now more than ever, it is important that the voices of those deemed powerless in the struggle are at the forefront and heard for their authenticity and legitimacy -particularly as the ‘new’ Manchester emerges.

How can I get involved?

The alliance officially launched in January, with an aim to continue growing and supporting residents across both communities. If you are a resident of either Moss Side or Wythenshawe and wish to be involved in the alliance and take part in twice monthly meetings, please contact or keep an eye out on our events page here

If you aren't a member of the communities involved in the alliance but wish to support the movement in varying capacities or have any further questions, please do email for potential voluntary roles or more information.
